8. Buy Used Furniture & Home Goods
Buying used is one way to reduce your ecological footprint. Plus, this method is much more budget-friendly! One study found that Americans throw out more than 12 million tons of furniture, which mostly ends up in the landfill. Treat your current furniture like you would your old clothes. Instead of throwing it out, donate it or sell it to someone else who will appreciate it like it’s new!
9. Learn Composting
Composting is another way of recycling organic materials. When done correctly, this can significantly reduce your annual household waste. If you have a lawn or garden, this is a great way to create nutrient-rich soil straight from your waste.
