When you think of a can cooler, you may immediately see an image of a foam sleeve you slip over your drink of choice. And while this is a type of can cooler, it’s far from the best option out there (in our humble opinion).
Around here, we like to consider can coolers to be insulated tumblers you can slip your favorite beverage right into. Can coolers work to keep your drink cold by preventing heat transfer (we’ll talk more about this later).
The Different Types of Can Coolers
There are many different types of can coolers out there. For example, there are foam or neoprene sleeves (also known as the “koozie”). There are also more robust can coolers made from materials such as stainless steel or plastic.
Can coolers are also available for various sizes of cans. For example, the BrüMate Hopsulator Slim is the perfect size for 12oz slim cans, while the Hopsulator Duo is great for 12oz standard cans. Need more room? The Juggernaut is a can cooler that fits 24/25oz cans perfectly.
How Does a Can Cooler Work?
The more traditional foam can coolers work by preventing condensation from forming on the outside of your can. This is especially helpful when you’re spending time outside in the heat and humidity.
When the condensation process happens, it creates heat, which causes your drink to warm up. Not fun. Can coolers prevent this process from happening in the first place!
Stainless steel can coolers prevent condensation too. However, they take it one step further. These can coolers provide insulation for your beverage, keeping heat from transferring to the can.
